There may have been some confusion about our latest project, so here are some details.

Introduction

I was making plans for the holidays when I asked Daniel what his plans were for turkey day. His response struck a chord in me:

Just trying to make this the Best Thanksgiving ever for my mom.

What an amazing and thoughtful reply. I realized how grateful Daniel was for all that his mother has done for him over the years and I became filled with gratitude myself.

That’s when I first thought about sending Mrs. Bufano a card.

Goals

The goal of this project is to make this the best Thanksgiving ever for Daniel’s lovely mother Lucille Bufano. If you have had the good fortune to meet her in person or online, you know she’s delightful. But even if you have not met her, you can imagine what it would take to raise a kid like Daniel.

And considering the love and joy that Daniel has brought to my life, I feel a debt of gratitude to his mother for doing such a great job raising such a good man.

Group Effort

At first, I had planned to send a card to Daniel’s mom letting her know how much I appreciated all that she has done and expressing respect for all that she has been through without hesitation in support of my good friend. But then I realized that there are people all over that feel like I do about Daniel. Perhaps they would be willing to sign a card as well.

The Card

I am in the process of designing a large format thanksgiving card that I hope to have printed for Thanksgiving Day. It’s a card to Daniel’s mother that explains how we feel about Daniel and expresses our gratitude to her for putting up with him all these years. LOL

Incorporated into the card will be the messages from friends and family wishing her a Happy Thanksgiving and expressing thanks for all that she has done.

Images

I realized that in addition to the card, we could put the messages in a simple slide show complimented by images that people provided. I am sure there are lots of great images that people could share. I will compile them into a slide show for everyone to see. I am sure it will be fun and entertaining.

The Surprise

All of the messages that are left on this site will remain hidden from Daniel and his mother until Thanksgiving Day or maybe the day before. This is because I want people to be able to leave messages for both Daniel’s mother and for Daniel. It will be a surprise to both when he picks it up.

What You Can Do

We have three different ways that you can help by leaving messages for the card:

By Phone (858) 848-7675

If you don’t trust the Internet or you don’t like to type, you can simply call my Google Voice number and leave a message with your name and phone number. I will transcribe the message and add you to the card.

This also works if you want to send your message via text.

If the form isn’t working or you just wanted to send an email for whatever reason, you can send messages to Thanks@thanksgiving.whirledorder.com When I receive the message, I will add you to the card. Be sure to leave a return email or phone number and include your name.

Web Form

This is the easiest way to participate. Simply click the Web Form link above and fill out a simple form, press submit and you will be added. A breakdown of the form fields is listed below. This is nothing formal and your responses will be protected and not disclosed to anyone.

The form consists of:

  • Message: for your message. Be sure to include your name in this field
  • Images: lets you add images (see Images Above)
